Today was a great day after the week off for Spring Break! The students learned that Yom Ha Shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, began last night and continued today. This week's vocabulary words are related to this topic and we are reading Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry, aloud in class. There are five different independent reading books being enjoyed by the students. The kids are reading one of the following: Sarah Plain and Tall , The Ballad of Lucy Whipple, The Misadventures of Maude March, Who Was George Washington, or Fever 1793. The students will be using these books for their 30 minutes of reading each evening and meeting once a week in Book Club groups to discuss the narrative elements of the stories. In math, students jumped right back into multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. We will begin Force and Motion in Science later in the week.
