August 29, 2012

Another great day at JYJ!  We started our read-a-loud, The One and Only Ivan, today.  Students do not need their own copy, but are more than welcome to pick one up if they would like to follow along in class.  The books are available at Quail Ridge, and are being held under "Joyner."  In math, the students took the first pre-assessment of the school. This included concepts and skills that we will cover in the first unit, Multiplication and Division. It's all about the weather and the water cycle in science.  The kids have great questions and are really getting into class discussions.  I also introduced the "Nifty Fifty" today, and challenged the kids to learn the names and locations of all 50 states in our nation. We will have a challenge each month, and I know that everyone will be able to meet this challenge by the end of the school year.

WJYJ NewsWJYJ News will begin Tuesday Sept. 4th at 8:30 AM on Channel 10.  5th Graders who need to know when they are on the news can go to the Joyner website (joyneres.wcpss.net) and click on the STUDENT tab, then click WJYJ, then pick SCHEDULE and/or ASSIGNMENTS.
