We dug our pharaohs out of the natron today. Wow! It was fascinating to see how much our pharaohs shrunk during the mummification process. We began wrapping the mummies in linen and will finish tomorrow with a coating of resin. We will be making funeral masks, painting sarcophagi, and finishing group investigation projects this week and next.
Science Vocabulary List:
- topographic map- a map that uses contour lines to show how high above sea level the land is at different places on the map.
- tributary- a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger stream or river.
- valley- the result of a river carrying away rock and soil, which creates a landscape where the river is at a lower elevation than the land on each side of it.
- volcano- a place along the edges of the plates in the Earth’s crust where materials from inside the earth can escape.
- watershed- an area of land that is drained by a common system of streams
- weathering- the wearing down of rocks and soil by water, wind, or chemical processes
- plateau- a wide area of high, flat land
