After a few days off, I am so excited to finally have a full week of school with the students. Our Savvy quilt sqares are almost done! The students worked in groups to read and become experts on one chapter of a nonfiction book about the Pilgrims. They worked together to create a visual aid to use during a presentation to teach the rest of the class what they learned about. The students exceeded all expectations and did a phenomenal job! Their posters are hanging in the hallway outside our classroom. In math the students continue to learn about geometry. After learning about the properties of different polygons and angles, the students are ready for Yum Yum Geometry tomorrow. We will be using pretzle sticks and mini marshmallows to show what they know. The students will be investigating the coordinate plane and coordinate graphing at the end of this week. Our unit test will be on Thursday, December 6. The students begam learning about economics today. They received the first part of our new vocabulary list in class today. We will be reading a story and doing a few activities in class to make the abstract concepts related to this unit more concrete.
