I hope everyone had a wonderful time at the Joyner Jamboree! I was so bummed to miss it, and I hope that someone has pictures to share. This week the students are learning about theme and author's tone. We are reading an annotated version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving and investigating how he used great vocabulary, figurative language, and imagery to evoke emotion from the reader. In math the students will take a unit post test on adding and subtracting decimals on Friday, November 2. We will be playing review games and practicing skills to ensure concepts are understood and skills are intact. The current weather conditions are providing an opportunity to study a real world weather problem. The students are engaging in valuable discussion and making connections to what they have studied about weather and climate.
