I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving full of great family, friends, and food. The students did an excellent job getting back into the swing of things after our short break. This week they will be working on finishing our learning contract. Some students are working on their individual writing choices, while others are finishing other activities such as the Internet Challenge and hanging mobile or flipbook. Tomorrow the students will pick a new independent reading book. We discussed the different choices today. Throughout the next several weeks the students will read independently and then meet in literature circles once a week to discuss and complete activities based on what they are reading. In addition, our class mini lessons will focus on cause & effect relationships in reading. In math, we are working on comparing and ordering fractions and changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. The students will finish their cross-curricular projects during science/social studies this week.
