September 6, 2011

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend and enjoyed having Monday off.  Thanks so much to everyone who donated books for our class set of Peak; each student now has a copy to use in class. The students took a quick math place value pre-assessment last week that was used to group the students for this strand.  They will find out their teacher and begin switching math classes tomorrow.  In math  we will continue working on number sense and place value of whole numbers and decimals including comparing, ordering, rounding, and solving word problems. Our class is learning across the curriculum by reading Peak and investigating land and water forms of the world. The students are beginning a dodecahedron (a 12-sided, 3 demensional figure) project which will allow them to explore and research an area of interest related to science and social studies. The students will attend an assembly on Thursday morning about our trip to Haiti this summer and what we hope to do to help in the future.
