16. oxbow lake- a u-shaped lake that is created when erosion and deposition of soil build
up in a meander. This "cuts off" a part of the river, creating a small lake.

18. plate- a section of the Earth's crust that is constantly shifting
19. sediment- very small solid pieces of particles that settle to the bottom of liquid
20. slope- land that slants up or down
