In Language Arts we are working on finding the main idea and summarizing text. The students are using a variety of resources including books, magazines, and the Internet. They are doing a great job working in archaeological teams to uncover facts about the ancient Egyptians and the process of mummification. Writing Choice 1 on the learning contract is due next Friday, October 8.
The students are investigating landforms in science and social studies. Our landforms vocabulary quiz is on Tuesday, October 5. We will also be making examples of the landforms with homemade clay in the next few weeks. Each student will need two cups of flour and one cup of salt in Ziploc bags and a small piece of cardboard. I will send more details and due dates in the coming week.
Thanks so much to everyone who volunteered to cut cardboard for our pharaohs' sarcophagi. It was sent home today with the students. If possible, please send the cut pieces back to school on Monday or Tuesday. We will be constructing the coffins on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The Breakfast Club will meet on Monday, October 4 at 8:00 am. Those students who will be joining us should NOT eat breakfast before coming to school!
